Swings and Slides

Image
Ben enjoyed some more time in the swing at the park today. Here he is at the top of the slide ready to go down. He looks a little worried, but mostly I think he is just sick of me taking pictures. :) Smiling at the bottom of the slide. What a cute boy! :)

New Hairstyle

Image
When Ben took a bath this afternoon, we tried out a new hairstyle. Like his mohawk? :)

Bar-B-Cutie

Image
After running some errands this morning, we tried Curt's new favorite place (Bar-B-Cutie) for lunch. I have never been a fan of barbeque, but I am trying to widen my horizons. It was actually very good and they even give you a little ice cream when you are done with your meal. Ben tried a little bit of the ice cream, but he wasn't too sure about it because it was very cold!

Playing in the sunshine

Image
I took Ben for a little walk in his wagon and he loved the wind blowing his hair. Here he is just hanging out back in the driveway. Playing with his little car. He still isn't sure how to move his feet very well with this one because it sits low to the ground. This bike he is better at moving around on (with help of course :) ). Then he thought he should spin the little noisy toy around for a while. We had to come in though when he decided he would like to crawl all over the driveway...not too good for bare legs!

Swinging at the park

Image
Ben loved the swing at the park this morning. He had his "crazy smile" so I had to get a picture. He seems to just have the one extreme smile at the moment...it is pretty cute though :). He was definitely excited!

Let's Read

Image
Ben looking at some books in his room this afternoon. Looking at his book about Noah and the ark. Feeling the chick's soft fur on the cover of the book. "Which one should I look at?" Telling me a story (in a language I do not comprehend :) ). Giving himself a little head rub...this isn't exactly how I taught him to look at books. :)

I can almost reach it!

Image
I left the remote a little too close to the edge of the chair and Ben decided he might just be able to reach it. It was funny because he even started hitting his hands on the chair to make the remote move a little bit. He almost got it...until mommy took it away. :)

MSU...is it really football time already?

Image
Ben sitting in the living room while the MSU game was on. He was prepared with his hat and football. "Yumm...I think I'd rather eat this football than watch it on tv." Curt and Ben smiling...that must mean a victory for MSU! :)

Who needs a haircut? ...Ben does!

Image
Once again it was time for Ben to get a haircut. Curt gave him one tonight while he watched Praise Baby and I tried to entertain him. He did a really good job sitting still, only getting restless near the end. BEFORE DURING AFTER ...we could not get him to smile. He was very smiley today, so that was strange. I guess he used them all up earlier :).

Enjoying the Sunshine

Image
Ben playing with his little car outside after lunch. Looking at a big truck passing by on the road. Crawling around on the blanket. He is getting really good at crawling...I'll have to try to get it on video. Testing out the grass. He still isn't quite sure about it. :)

Say, "Cheese"

Image
This morning Ben had some cute smiles for the camera.

Picnic in the Rain

Image
The Vera Bradley picnic took place today and sadly it was pretty rainy outside. We went anyway, because we are troopers :). We got really wet, but did enjoy some delicious food. Everyone also got to take home a Vera Bradley quilt. Here's Ben displaying the quilt for me. We put it on the floor and he had fun crawling after the little bows. It's too bad that it rained...maybe next year there will be sunshine. :)

Family

Image
My parents came for a visit today with my brother Jacob and niece Molly. We are always excited to have our families visit! We went out to the park for a while and my dad finally got to see some Amish people (he really wanted too...I'm not sure why :) ). Ben playing with my niece Molly. We went to the park in Leo and Ben tried out the swing. He looks a little nervous, but he was having a good time. :) My mom and Ben hanging out at the park. Ben making funny noises with his hands by my dad.

Ben's emotional rollercoaster

Image
We went to Curt's softball game tonight and once again it started to rain on us. I think Ben and I are retired for the rest of the season :). Ben did a pretty good job not being too cranky, but near the end he was up...down...up...down. He was very ready for bed. Oh, and if you were wondering about Curt's injury tally...he did scratch up his leg once again, but not as bad as before. Ben laughing at Olivia one minute. The next minute he was very mad and ready to be in bed.

Reading

Image
Ben looked at some books in his rocking chair this afternoon. He is a boy after my own heart (I do love to read). I like how he uses his feet to help hold the book. :)

Crawling and Climbing

Image
Ben is getting pretty good at being able to move around on the floor. He seems to go forward on his knees, move a little bit, and then backup again into a sitting position. If I am anywhere near him on the floor, he has to climb on me. So, here he is climbing on my legs. Looking up...but of course no smiles for the camera :).

This Grass Feels Funny

Image
Ben made us laugh today because he kept lifting his foot up to get it out of the grass. It think it felt weird on his skin. Getting a little more comfortable and letting his foot rest in the grass. Just relaxing!

Victory at Last!

Image
Once again, we spent our Thursday night watching Curt play softball. Tonight they had their first victory! Ben and I before the weather turned rainy and we hid under an umbrella. Curt taking care of second base. On first base after his first hit of the game. Last week, I said I hoped there would be no more blood. Well...so much for my hopes :). He was diving for a ground ball and hurt his other leg this time.
