A Perfect Day for the Zoo

Benjamin and I headed to the zoo today. It is supposed to rain tomorrow, so I wanted to make sure and enjoy today's sunshine. Ben loved watching all of the animals. He would get so excited when they moved around.

When we first walked in, we saw this peacock. Ben was laughing and pointing at it. I think he was surprised at how close it was to us.

He liked seeing all of the animals in the farm area. We had to stay by the cow and watch it eat for a while. He even wanted to see the goats again. I didn't get any pictures of the goats. He walked around by them and tried to pet them. One of them started eating my sweatshirt string, so we headed out of there before he tried to nibble Ben. :)

Hi Melissa...I realized it's been about a week since I've checked pictures....you have lots of nice ones...looked like a great day for the zoo. Ben is getting so big, I'm sure he's going to get lots of use out of his swingset. That's all...have a good day....give Ben a hug & kiss from grandma :) Love,Mom

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
