A beautiful day for the zoo!

We've been experiencing quite a few rainy days this week, so it was nice to see the sun shining today. I decided to take Ben to the zoo since we haven't been there in a couple weeks. When I told him we were going to the zoo he yelled, "Giraffes!" I think they might be his favorite part of the zoo. We didn't go through the whole zoo today, but instead took time to enjoy some of Ben's favorite parts.

I've never seen the lions this close! It was pretty exciting to see the male lion come right up by the window. One of the moms (whose kids are in the picture) said that the glass has never seemed so thin!

We took a ride on the train. The conductor came by and asked Ben if he was ready for a train ride and Ben replied, "Choo! Choo!"

We finished off our zoo trip with a visit to the goats. Ben loves running from goat to goat to brush them.

Looks like another fun day at the zoo! I bet the train ride was a fun experience along with the rest of the adventure. So Cute!

Enjoying December

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
