Thanksgiving

The last few days have been filled with the three f's...family, friends, and food! We drove up to Cadillac, MI on Wednesday morning and arrived right at lunch time. Curt's mom is a kindergarten teacher and she had a half day of school. After all of her students went home, she gave Ben a little tour of the school and her classroom. Ben really enjoyed seeing everything in her room. He played with some pattern blocks, checked out the kitchen, and sat in one of the desks. I think he would go to school tomorrow if he could! I'm not really ready for that yet.

We spent Thanksgiving day over at Mark and Betsy's house with all of Curt's family. We stuffed ourselves (of course) with lots of delicious food. Then, because it's part of Walker tradition the guys had to play a game of Risk. That only took a short 4.5 hours to complete. Curt was this years' winner!

On Friday we headed to my parent's house in Grand Rapids. We were able to meet our friends Rachel and Derek for dinner. It was so good to catch up with them! We ate at Carrabba's which I was missing since we don't have one in Fort Wayne. On Saturday, we got to go see a movie with my parents, so that was really fun. My brother Matt also made the drive back from WI (again...since he already went back right after Thanksgiving). It was nice to be able to visit with him since I thought we'd miss him this visit.

Sunday after church, my sister and her family came to my parent's house for lunch. I didn't see my brother Joe this time because he had to work every day...bummer! My mom made my favorite cheesecake for dessert to celebrate my birthday. It was delicious. She also ordered some yummy cupcakes they've been getting from Arnie's. I ate one of those too and was completely stuffed when it was time to head home.

We enjoyed our visits with everyone and look forward to coming again at Christmas...Now I think I need to start a diet and exercise program to burn off all of the holiday calories!

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself.
