Sweet Kids

Image
Lucy tried out her Bumbo seat for the first time last week. She looks like such a big girl sitting in it.   I think she likes it!  Ben thought she would like a bunch of Mario guys on her tray. She doesn't look so sure about it.  Watching her big bro to see what he's going to pile on her next.  Lucy hanging out with mom and dad before bed last night. She's been doing really well with sleeping. She either sleeps the whole night or gets up just once. Lucy loves her giraffe that she got as a present from our friends. It is easy for her to hold and she likes to chew on its head. :)

Out to Dinner

Image
After church tonight, we decided to head to Pizza Hut for dinner because we were really hungry. We took a couple pictures on my phone (sorry for the poor quality). Lucy did really well hanging out on our laps...until she had a blow-out. Thankfully, I had extra clothes and did not get it all over myself (since she was on my lap at the time). Babies definitely keep us on our toes! :)

The Kiddos

I found these pictures on my phone from last week. We were enjoying an afternoon in the backyard. Ben had a good time digging in his sandbox while Lucy looked on from her bouncy seat. I still can't believe that it is only March. If only every winter could end up like this I would be a very happy girl! :)

Playing at the Park

Having an 11 week old baby has certainly changed how much we get out of the house. In the past, Ben & I would be outside for several hours enjoying this beautiful weather. Now we go out for shorter periods of time and have mostly gone for neighborhood walks or played in the backyard. I've been missing being more spontaneous with Ben, so I decided this morning that we should just head to the park and have a good time. I fed Lucy right before we left and we headed over to Parkview park. It was very hot out, so I made sure to give Lucy some breaks in the shade. Ben had a wonderful time on all of the play equipment. He even had fun running up and down the big hill while I watched him from the shaded pavilion at the bottom.  He's getting much better at climbing up everything. I can't believe he will be 5 years old in the fall!  Would you like some lemonade?  Lucy slept through most of our visit. Having her in a carrier on a hot day made for two sweaty people! Run Be...

A Saturday Morning Surprise

Image
This week Curt went out and did a little shopping...for golf clubs. It can be dangerous to send him alone to the store. :) He went looking for a club or two for Ben and ended up with a whole set! It was on sale and he could not pass it up. Last summer, Curt took Ben to the driving range and Ben took his plastic clubs. Now he gets to golf with his very own real clubs. Curt set them up in the garage to surprise Ben this morning. After they were all ready to head to the driving range, Curt told Ben they needed to go get their clubs from in the garage. Ben walked right past the new set to go get his blue plastic ones. I think he thought it was Curt's set. When Curt pointed it out, Ben said, "Are these for me?" He was so excited! And best of all the bag was in his two favorite colors...black & red.  They are off having fun at the driving range right now. I'm sure they will have a good time golfing together for ma...

Sharing

Lucy's new "activity gym" got delivered this afternoon. Ben was very excited to help me put it together. After she looked at the toys alone for a few minutes, Ben thought there was room for two and squeezed in there with her. I thought it was so funny that I got the camera. It looks like big kids can have fun with baby toys too! Good thing Lucy likes to share. :)

Watercolor Project

Image
It is a little bit wet & windy outside today, so I thought it was a great day to try a Pinterest project that I pinned forever ago. For the project we just needed paper, watercolor paints, masking or painter's tape, and a paint brush. I used the tape to spell out Ben's name on one paper and make diagonal lines on another. Then, he painted the watercolors all over the papers. He had a fun time and it was an easy project to throw together on a rainy day.  I taped B-E-N with masking tape. (Only because our painter's tape was really wide)  The stripes with painter's tape.  Ben working away on his project.  The finished paper after I pulled the tape off.  This paper didn't get quite as much painting. He said he was getting tired. This little girl played on the floor with me while Ben was painting. Lucy has been sleeping in her crib for a long afternoon nap and at night for the last 5 days. She is doing awesome with sleeping! For the nap, she will sleep ab...

Growing Up

Image
I am amazed at how fast Ben is growing up. Sometimes when he wakes up in the morning it looks like he grew overnight! This morning we did a few "learning" activities together. I try to sneak these in during the times we are playing with stuffed Mario guys, shooting hoops, or playing cars. I had Ben play a rhyming game that I made forever ago when I was in college. He had a lot of fun with it and said it was "Awesome!" Then, we went through our ABC flashcards (upper and lowercase). He flew through those quickly without one mistake. After that I decided to tackle writing, which has been a struggle the last few months. Ben gets really hard on himself when the letters don't look perfect and usually gives up quickly. I've tried not to push it very much with him and just let him try a few letters and be done for the day. Lately, he has gained more confidence...especially in writing his name (just the first name so far). Today, I asked him if we could do some writi...

Beautiful Day!

Image
We are enjoying the beautiful weather today. This has been my kind of winter...not a snowflake in sight! I bundled up Lucy in her carseat/stroller and we headed outside for a walk this morning. It is super windy, but other than that the weather is perfect. Lucy had her 2 month check-up on Monday. She was 10# 2oz (25%) and 22 3/4 inches long (70%). I looked up Ben's stats to compare the two of them and found that he weighed 12# 13 oz and was 23 1/2 inches long at 2 months. He was almost a pound smaller than her at birth, so it is amazing how much he grew in the first two months. At the appt, Lucy had to get three shots in her legs, so that was a little sad to see. Poor girl. :( She was pretty fussy during that afternoon, but seemed to be back to her normal self by the evening. Last night, she slept for a little over 8 hrs! I was feeling so tired yesterday for some reason, so I was thankful for a good night of sleep.   Can you spot the baby? (Ben thought Lucy needed to have a mil...
