Growing Up

I am amazed at how fast Ben is growing up. Sometimes when he wakes up in the morning it looks like he grew overnight! This morning we did a few "learning" activities together. I try to sneak these in during the times we are playing with stuffed Mario guys, shooting hoops, or playing cars. I had Ben play a rhyming game that I made forever ago when I was in college. He had a lot of fun with it and said it was "Awesome!" Then, we went through our ABC flashcards (upper and lowercase). He flew through those quickly without one mistake. After that I decided to tackle writing, which has been a struggle the last few months. Ben gets really hard on himself when the letters don't look perfect and usually gives up quickly. I've tried not to push it very much with him and just let him try a few letters and be done for the day. Lately, he has gained more confidence...especially in writing his name (just the first name so far). Today, I asked him if we could do some writing together on our basement chalkboard and I was surprised at how excited he was to do that. He wanted to write different Mario characters names. One of his favorites is his blue Yoshi. I think he did an awesome job writing it below my blue letters. I can't believe that he will be in preschool next year! I know he will love it. :)

Having fun in his tent this morning.

Wow! Ben's going to be at the head of his pre-school class for sure! He sure is a bright boy, and he has a great teacher! You are such a good Mommy, and it shows in your bright, happy children. Keep up the good work!
