Iphone photo catch-up

I've been terrible at taking pictures lately. I took our nice camera with us when we visited family/friends up in Michigan last weekend and I never took it out once. :( I have taken a few photos here and there with my phone. The picture quality isn't great, but at least I captured a few memories.

 Ben's friend Olivia has morning kindergarten, so we were able to meet one afternoon at Bounce Mania. They were the only kids there! They spent most of the time going down the biggest slide over and over.
 I met my friend Erin (and her kids Will & Lauren) at Parkview Park on a beautiful sunny morning. Ben had fun running up and down the hill with his friend Will. (They are the little specs at the top of the hill).
 When we recently visited my family, Lucy had a good time hanging out with her Uncle Joe. She was so tired (she would not take a nap that day despite all my efforts) that she was practically falling asleep on him.

 We headed up to Curt's parents house for one night during our Michigan trip, so that we could make it to his friend Matt's surprise birthday party. Matt and his family (wife Nicole and daughter Zoe) live in Vancouver, WA. Curt has not seen him for several years, so it was so nice that we could make that visit happen.
This is Ben and his wonderful preschool teacher Mrs. Miller. We went to the open house at his school today so that he could get familiar with his classroom and some of the other parts of the school. I am excited for him to start this new adventure on Tuesday. But, if I'm honest, I am also a little nervous. He is my oldest and this is a big change for us. He is such a social boy that I know he will love it, but I will miss having him around all day. I'm not sure how I will survive all day kindergarten (since it seems like that will be my only option next year). Growing up is hard...esp on moms. :)

Enjoying December

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
