Catching Up

I can't believe that it is almost Christmas! We celebrate early with the kids (because we will be in Michigan with our families during Christmas). Our "Christmas" will take place this coming weekend. I didn't want to have it be something that we quickly did one evening after Curt got home from work, so this weekend was the only other time that we could wake up and have a whole day celebrating together. Sometimes I wish that we could be home on Christmas morning, but we love to see our families and this is the best way to work that out.
 
Here are a few pictures of what we've been up to the last few days. :) 
 
 Curt took Ben up to Lansing on Saturday to watch his first Michigan State basketball game. Curt's dad met them there for the game. Ben was so excited to see Pop!
 Do you think he's having fun? :) Curt said that Ben did great sitting through the whole game and all of the traveling.
 This cute girl kept me busy on Saturday while the boys were gone. She likes to get into everything lately!
 Speaking of getting into everything...she keeps pulling things out of the cupboards. This one with bowls seems to be a favorite lately. One morning, after she pulled a few bowls out Ben grabbed a couple pencils and started drumming. I decided to just go with it and get the camera. :)
 Ben has a box in the basement that he made into a spaceship.
This is how we eat breakfast around here. I bet you wish you had some glasses as cool as these ones!

Enjoying December

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. We're hoping that I'll have the baby while they are here, but I'm not sure that is going to happen since they head home tomorrow. Ben ...

The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
