Because it's been too long...

I haven't done the best job keeping up with my blog, but I will try to add some pictures more often. I can't believe that we are already in the middle of September. The next few months are pretty busy for us so I'm sure they will go by fast. Ben is excited to almost be 6 at the end of October and have a "Luigi" birthday party. Ben has been in school now since August 14th. Lucy and I have adjusted to him being gone a big chunk of the day. I think she enjoys her "mommy time." Ben has loved school so far and going the whole day hasn't worn him out too much!

 We went to a TinCaps baseball game in August. It was through Curt's work and they had face painters there for the kids. Ben really wanted the lady to paint Luigi on his face, but she wasn't sure that she could do that. Then, she said she could paint a Luigi mustache. It ended up more like Mario's mustache, but Ben still thought it was cool and walked around telling everyone that he was Luigi.
 Ben getting off the bus on his first day of school. He said that riding the bus was his favorite part of that day.
 Ben has been playing soccer every Saturday morning. His friend Evan is on his team. Evan's dad coaches the team with Curt.
 Lucy took a trip to the zoo with her friend Norah.
 Rapunzel took a ride on our tire swing.
 This made me laugh...Lucy wanted to lay down in the grass, but it was tickling her too much!
 Gramps and Grandma came to watch Ben play soccer.
 Gramps showed Lucy his coloring skills when we went out to lunch.
 Pop and Grandma came to visit too!
 We took another trip to the zoo and Lucy fed the giraffes for the first time.
 This tiger kept walking back and forth in front of the window. Norah and Lucy were not scared at all, but it kinda freaked me out.
 This sweet boy played some more soccer and even scored his second goal!
Lucy continues to be a sweet, silly, sassy girl! :)

Enjoying December

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. We're hoping that I'll have the baby while they are here, but I'm not sure that is going to happen since they head home tomorrow. Ben ...

The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
