Catching Up

I can't believe that it is already October! This month is crazy busy with two family visits planned and Ben's 6th birthday party. I hope to enjoy it all and not be too stressed about everything that needs to get done this month.
 
In Sept, Curt's sister Molly and family made the trip down from Cadillac. Ben was excited to have his cousins to play with all weekend! They went to Ben's Saturday morning soccer game and then we spent the afternoon at the zoo.

The following weekend the Bairds came for a visit. Ben had so much fun playing with Jackson and Luke! They also made it to Ben's soccer game, but I didn't get any pictures of them there. :( I was pretty bad taking pics that weekend. We made great memories, even though I don't have photographic proof! :)
 I tried to get Lucy and Evie to smile at me, but this is the best I could get! :)
 Curt and Derek took the boys to see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. Ben has been looking forward to watching that movie and they were excited to all see it together.
 
We finished up Ben's soccer season last Saturday. It was sprinkling when we left the house and pouring by the time we got there. It is hard to tell in the picture, but it is pouring. The players and coaches were soaked. I had an umbrella, but was soaked too from trying to keep Lucy covered in her stroller. I hope I get bonus points for sitting through that game!

 Monday night was the Upward Soccer Award Celebration. I wasn't in a good spot for a picture, but this is when Curt and Ben's team (Kenya) was announced on the stage.
 I love that these two usually enjoy spending time together. Today, I found Lucy sitting with Ben and he was helping her "paint" a picture on the computer. She loves being with her big brother. :)

Enjoying December

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself.
