Thanksgiving
Just like the rest of the fall, the month of November seemed to pass by quickly. I had a fun day with my sweet family celebrating my birthday. Curt took the day off and let me sleep in. Sleeping in for me is like 7:30, but it was so much nicer than waking up at 6:00. We had sundaes at DeBrand's after Ben was done with school. Everyone was happy that I chose that over birthday cake! :)
We traveled up to Grand Rapids and Cadillac over the Thanksgiving holiday. It was nice to fit so many people into the few days we were in Michigan. Traveling weekends (esp. the longer ones) always wear us out. So, we were pretty tired Monday morning. I'm sure we will feel the same after the Christmas trip too, but at least Ben will still have some days left of his vacation.
December is already underway and I'm looking forward to enjoying lots of Christmas traditions with the family this month!
On November 21st, we watched Ben's Thanksgiving play at his school. All of the kindergarten classes performed together and it was so cute. He is near the middle of the picture in a black shirt.
Lucy did a great job sitting through the play. She loved all of the different songs.
On November 24th, Curt & I were invited to attend an assembly at Ben's school. Ben's teacher had nominated him for a Student Leadership award and he was going to receive it then. He didn't know about the award at all, so we kept our coming a surprise. It was so special to hear his principal read why Ben's teacher had chosen him for the award. He really is such a helpful, kind, and caring boy! Such a proud momma! :)
We also got to see Ben's principal have "Thanksgiving Dinner" dumped on her. The kids earned it somehow, but I don't remember what they had to do. There was a designated student from each grade that got to come up and pour stuff over her head. The kids loved it. She was such a great sport!
When we arrived in GR on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, we spent a little time with the Bairds. Ben had fun playing with his friends Jackson & Luke.
Lucy enjoyed playing with Uncle Joe on Thanksgiving.
Curt, Matt, and Jake were relaxing with the Lions game on after we ate lunch.
The cousins stayed over at my parent's house for a sleepover. Lucy and Ben had such a fun time with the kids. Lucy and Molly are hanging out in the above picture.
On Friday night we went to downtown Cadillac to see the Christmas lights and Santa. It was cold and snowy!
Curt won the annual Thanksgiving Risk game between all the guys.
We celebrated my birthday on Saturday evening. I was so full, I could hardly eat any of this yummy cake.
Ben and Lucy loved reading books with Grandma Walker.
I added this picture because I can't get enough of that smile. My little sunshine girl! :)
