Snow Days

The crazy snowstorm that started on Sunday has caused school to be closed all week. We've enjoyed having unrushed mornings and lots of extra play time. But, I don't like being trapped in the house and knowing that the roads are a mess. I really would like to take a trip to the store and stock up on some things. :) It also makes me sad that all of these days will probably mean that Ben is in school longer at the end of the year. Hopefully the rest of the winter will have mild weather.

The following photos are a few things that have kept us busy on our snow days.

On Monday, no travel was allowed, so Curt worked from home. Curt loves to do the boiling water trick when the weather is cold enough. I tried to take a picture through the window, but it's hard to see with the screen in the way. Curt had a cup of boiling water and threw it up in the air...it immediately froze (that's the big white cloud in the photo).
One night we made homemade pretzels to have with a "movie night." We watched 101 Dalmatians. Ben helped me roll and shape them.
Someone else wanted to help, but we let her be more of a "watcher." (I forgot to take any pics of the finished product.
One afternoon, we turned on Robin Hood (one of Curt's favorites...too bad he was at work).
Ben worked on making masks while watching the movie.
Trying out a couple of the masks.
Each day, there has been a pretty big mess, like the one above, in the living room, basement, or bedrooms. Sometimes the messes are all over the house at the same time. I've relaxed a bit this week and try enjoy our time and not care about toys being everywhere! We clean up at night and make a whole new mess on the next snow day!

I just loved catching up on your blog today, Melissa. Great pictures of fun family times. So fun to see everyone and all the activity. It really makes me miss you though. I'm going to need a Grandma Fix pretty soon! :-)
