February

We made lots of great memories in February! It started with a snowstorm and ended with a little more snow. I think we are all ready for winter to be over and spring to come. Ben is currently having another day off of school because of ice on the roads. So, it feels like that warmer weather is a long way off. In the meantime, we will try to have the most fun that we can indoors! :) 
We had fun making a snowman with a kit we picked up at the store. This was before much more snow & cold winds came later in the day.

Ben's buddy Evan came over for a sleepover when they had a day off of school.
Ben enjoyed doing a little building at Home Depot.
 
Lucy got to share a yummy dessert with mom and dad at DeBrands. (Ben was at his school movie night.)
 We watched Ben play his last basketball game of the season and I got lots of hugs from this sweet girl.

Our friends, the Bairds, came for a visit and we had such a fun time!
The boys played some laser tag and arcade games.

The girls went to the mall and made some new friends at Build-a-Bear.
Evie with her new pony and Lucy with her new kitty. (Lucy did pick out a super sparkly dress that we put on the kitty later.)
Carousel rides are a must at the mall! :)
The kids loved the Valentine's lip suckers that Rachel brought for everyone.
 These two shared lots of hugs on the last day! It's always hard to say goodbye to friends!
 Ben's room changed a lot over the month. He has wanted the walls green for a long time. So, we started with some different bedding and then painted the walls. His bed got moved and we added some shelves for his treasures.
 This isn't the best picture with a messy bed, but it's all I have right now. We added a desk from IKEA and some extra drawers that match. Ben loves projects, so I wanted him to have more storage for all of the things he makes and supplies.  I got him a corkboard and painted the edges navy. He hung a few of his drawings on it already. I love seeing him sit at his desk and draw. I'm glad we were able to find a desk small enough to fit in his room.
 Lucy had her second dentist appointment. She did awesome with a smile the whole time! :)
One morning, we made some homemade play dough. Lucy loved how warm it felt.
Ta-Da! Someone ended the month looking super cute in her dress!

Enjoying December

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. We're hoping that I'll have the baby while they are here, but I'm not sure that is going to happen since they head home tomorrow. Ben ...

The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
