Cadillac Visit

Right after we left Mackinaw Island, we headed to Cadillac to spend a few days with Curt's family. The weather cooperated and we were able to do lots of fun things together outdoors.
Ben had fun playing mini-golf with his cousin Pey.
I helped Lucy play. She would hit the ball about 100 times at each hole. :)
Lucy enjoyed the playground while the other kids rode in the go-garts. She was still a little too short. Maybe next year?

Ben helped pass out candy with lots of the family. Lucy watched the parade and collected lots of candy to share with her cousins.
 
Later on the 4th, we went over to Mark and Betsy's house. Lucy loved trying out Jenna's new trampoline.
We had a delicious picnic dinner.
Ben loved the big Root Beer that he got to drink!

Sparklers make me nervous, but the kids had lots of fun.
This was Lucy's first time with sparklers. She was mesmerized.

My brothers-in-law Mark and Tim put on a good fireworks show. It was fun to watch fireworks while sitting around the campfire.

Enjoying December

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. We're hoping that I'll have the baby while they are here, but I'm not sure that is going to happen since they head home tomorrow. Ben ...

The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
