Lucy's 5th Birthday


I am months behind on the blog. I am going to try to catch up with the things that I really don't want to forget. This blog is my scrapbook and I love looking back at things from years ago. 

Lucy celebrated her 5th birthday on January 4. The kids were both still on Christmas break from school, so we had a fun family day together. Lucy picked going roller skating. It was the first time for her and Ben. Let me tell you...it was hard to keep them from falling, even with the helper thing they had to hold onto. Then, in the end it was me who fell the worst and sprained my wrist. That was embarrassing! Other than my fall, we all had a great day celebrating our sweet girl.

 Lucy wanted an Ariel theme for her birthday this year. 



 We had lunch at Culver's and the kids were able to get two plush toys with all the tickets they had saved from their kid's meals. They were very excited about that! 
 Smiles before we got on the slippery floor of the rink. 
We didn't really have many pictures because were were both working so hard to keep the kids from falling. Ben stressed out quite a bit. I don't remember my back ever being so sore from roller skating! We might need to pick an easier outing next year! 😄

The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...

Watercolor Project

It is a little bit wet & windy outside today, so I thought it was a great day to try a Pinterest project that I pinned forever ago. For the project we just needed paper, watercolor paints, masking or painter's tape, and a paint brush. I used the tape to spell out Ben's name on one paper and make diagonal lines on another. Then, he painted the watercolors all over the papers. He had a fun time and it was an easy project to throw together on a rainy day.  I taped B-E-N with masking tape. (Only because our painter's tape was really wide)  The stripes with painter's tape.  Ben working away on his project.  The finished paper after I pulled the tape off.  This paper didn't get quite as much painting.
