Lansing, MI...Family Visit

This weekend we traveled to Lansing to Curt's sister's house to celebrate three birthdays with the family. The rest of the Cadillac, MI family came down too. We had a full house and had lots of fun together!

Ben was excited to see Mark and Betsy's dog, Charlie, again. He loved to pet him and chase him around the house.

He really wanted to play Uno with the kids (that means he wanted to grab the cards and run off with them :) ). His Grandma Walker let him sit by her and help with her cards. He did a pretty good job not messing up the cards for everyone.


The three March birthdays...Betsy (my sis-in-law), Tim (my brother-in-law), and Abby (my niece).

This little guy did not sleep very well while we were there. He would NOT go to bed at night and we struggled with it for several hours. He usually does a good job sleeping while we are gone. On the way home, he slept most of the way. He was tired out from getting 1/2 as much sleep at night as he usually does.

Bless Ben's heart----that's how I felt by the time we left too! It was lots of fun but certainly different than being at home. We loved being with you again, and having time to be with Ben. We're looking forward to our next gathering!

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
