Splash Pad and Car Trouble

Yesterday we met Glenda and her kids Jillian and Evan at the park. We decided on a park with water because it was SUPER hot out! Ben had fun playing in the water. He is getting more brave, but still won't run though it.


After we were all done playing and eating lunch with our friends, we packed up the jeep and got ready to head home. As I turned the key, all I heard was a faint "click, click, click." I tried to call Curt right away to see if I could catch him at work, but I couldn't get a hold of him. I ran after Glenda as she was backing out. She offered to take us home, which was such a blessing on a hot day with a little guy ready for a nap.
Later, I got a hold of Curt and he went to check it out. He couldn't get it started with jumper cables and called for a tow truck. After a long wait for him, the tow truck arrived and they were able to get it started. (They said not to turn it off until he was somewhere he could get the connections cleaned and possibly a new battery). He came home to get us and we were able to get both vehicles and return the jeep home. He got the battery checked and it was bad. So, now we have a new one and it is running great! Things worked out well, but I do not want a repeat of that experience. :)

Enjoying December

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. We're hoping that I'll have the baby while they are here, but I'm not sure that is going to happen since they head home tomorrow. Ben ...

The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
