First Trip of the Year


It is a beautiful sunny day out today. I thought it would be a good day to take a trip to the zoo. We met Patty and her daughter Olivia there. I'm sure it will be the first of many trips to the zoo this year!

Soon after we arrived, Olivia and Ben went on a pony ride. Ben has ridden a pony before, but not at the zoo. He was very excited to go for a ride. (Betsy-he rode Sadie the same pony that Jenna rode when you visited. I told that to Ben and he thought that was pretty cool to ride the same one as Jenna!)

We took a ride on the caroursel and I tried to get a picture of the two of us. That never seems to turn out so well for me. I was surprised to catch Ben smiling.

Ben played on "Little Poof" for a little bit, while Olivia and Patty went for a train ride. He was happy to be able to run around and stretch his legs.


We ended at the farm area. Ben loved the goats last year and his love for them is still going strong. :) He was so happy to run around and brush all of them.

Ahh...the zoo. Good times. I loved Sadie!! Now those are some ponies I could be around. :D Looks like he enjoyed his trip! Has "Little Poof" changed? It looks a little different this year.

Yes, we had a fun time! "Little Poof" hasn't changed. Curt asked me the same thing. Ben is in the last train car in this post. The middle car says "Little Poof" on it.

Enjoying December

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
