Playground

It has been a long week around here! The dreaded potty-training time started on Monday. I decided to just jump in with underwear full-time for Ben and see how that turned out. After wetting the bed on Monday for nap & night, I've been pleasantly surprised that he has not had any more accidents in his bed all week long. He has been doing really well for the most part. He still has a couple issues to work on, but he has made wonderful progress. It's tiring though, for all of us. I wish there was a switch you could just flip and have it all be over with!

We decided last night to take a walk to the neighborhood playground. There is not a potty nearby and Ben did well making it all the way there and back without any problems. I took the camera along because the blog has been lacking pictures this week. We had fun on the swings and playing around for a little while. I think we can probably take some short outings away from the house this week. It will feel good to not be trapped in the house again all week.

YAH, Ben and YAH, Mama!!! You did it!! Isn't it nice to be on the other side now....you can breath a little easier I'm sure. Good for you....it's got to be the worst part of parenting! LOL :) Yah for getting out of the house a little bit too! I'm so proud of all of you! :) (and NO pull ups! wink wink) ;)
I like how Curt and Ben are dressed the same too...cute! :)

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
