Up in Smoke

We spent the past weekend up in Cadillac with Curt's family. Curt had a golf outing with his dad, Tim, and Uncle Doug on Saturday morning. The rest of us were going to take the kids to play putt-putt. Our plans changed quickly on Saturday morning when Curt's mom received a phone call from Molly (my sister-in-law) that my niece Abby had fallen outside and hurt her leg. The two of us headed over there as quickly as possible. In the meantime, Ben was having a super fun sleepover at his Uncle Mark & Aunt Betsy's house. Check out his fun time HERE on Betsy's blog.

I stayed with Katie and Brady while Molly and Char headed to the hospital with Abby. They ended up finding out from the x-ray that she broke her leg. They were finally back home after about 4 hours in the ER. That majorly changed the plans for the day and we all just adapted with what needed to get done. Abby was able to get her cast on yesterday. I heard it is has blue & purple stripes. Hopefully she'll get used to getting around with her cast soon.

It was nice to see everyone, but it was definitely not the weekend that we were expecting. I hardly took my camera out at all. I did end up remembering about it when we went to Mark & Betsy's for dinner and smores by the fire. After a stop at my parent's for lunch on Sunday, we headed back home. We had been gone so much of last week that it was nice to finally sleep in our own beds again.

Mark trying to start the fire on Saturday evening. He had some trouble because the wood got rained on.
Ben and Jacob keeping an eye on things.
At one point we had some flames, so I took the camera out to document the success.
A few minutes later, we only had a bunch of smoke left. Curt and Mark rebuilt the fire again and eventually we had a really nice one going. Good job guys!
They had a choice between regular and extra large marshmallows. Can you guess which kind Ben chose?
Jenna made her smores with one of the huge marshmallows. It was pretty messy. I just stuck with the normal size for mine. :)

Ha ha....that was fun! Even though it was a different weekend, I still enjoyed spending time with you and Ben! (and Curt for a little bit of it!) It will make an interesting memory weekend for sure! ;)) Hope potty training week is going ok! :D

No, things surely did not go as planned, but it was great to be together in spite of all the extra excitement. Thankfully Abby is doing much better now that she has her cast on. We definately made some memories! :-)
