Oh, the Places We Go...

Over the last few days, we've visited some fun places in Fort Wayne. It's been wonderful to spend time with friends and family along with enjoying the beautiful weather.

Last week Thursday, we went back to the splash park at Kreager Park. It is such a fun place! Ben and I met my friends Bekah (Isaiah & Amarah) and Erin (Will & Lauren). The kids had a great morning running around. Ben used up so much energy that he was really ready for a nap when we got home.

This past weekend, Curt's sister Betsy and husband Mark came to visit. Ben was so excited to play with his cousins Jacob, Jenna, and Peyton for the whole weekend! I was really bad about taking pictures. I brought the camera to Buckner Park on Saturday morning, but didn't really get the best pictures. Oh well...we had a great time visiting together and that is the most important part. :)

The older kids section was roped off with caution tape when we arrived. That is really the only place for the kids to play, so after inspecting it we decided to be rule breakers and let the kids have their fun. It looked like there had been some repairs to the soft padded ground the equipment was on. It seemed to be completely dry, so I'm not sure why they had to have tape up on a weekend.

This morning, I took Ben to the zoo for the last $1 rides Monday. The weather was perfect. The zoo wasn't too crowded at all, which always makes me happy. We had a great time spending a few hours there this morning.

 Today he rode one of the bigger horses. He has only ridden on the smaller ponies before and I thought he might be scared. I was wrong. He was thrilled and loved every minute of it.
 The horse's name was Chief. He was walking pretty fast so it was hard to get a picture of Ben riding him.

Enjoying December

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. We're hoping that I'll have the baby while they are here, but I'm not sure that is going to happen since they head home tomorrow. Ben ...

The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
