Change

Change is sometimes hard for me...especially big changes. This weekend we made one of those big changes. We bought a minivan! It is new and has lots of really great features, but there is still a part of me that misses my Jeep. I drove it for 6+ years and it will take a while to get used to the new van. The Jeep was starting to have some problems and we didn't want to invest more $ into it, so the time came to start looking for something else. Friday, Curt was able to find exactly what we were looking for, at a good price. He brought it home to show it to me and I thought it was perfect. I think it will be great for our long drives up to Michigan to visit our families.

 I just drove it for the first time. It drives very smoothly, but has a much different feel than the Jeep. It also takes up much more room in the garage. I'm sure I'll get used to it after a couple weeks, but for now it still makes me feel a bit nervous to get behind the wheel. Ben loves the dvd player and wireless headphones. We let him try them out on our drive. He said that it is the best vehicle ever! I'm sure I'll feel the same way after I learn how to use all of the features. :) 

 Goodbye Jeep...we'll miss you!

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
