Two Great Kids!

Spring Break is coming to a close, but I dare say that it barely feels like spring is here at all. The last couple days did get a smidge warmer in the afternoon and we were able to get quite a bit of yard work done, cutting down the dead plants and edging all around the landscaping. Next comes staining the deck and getting woodchips...we know how to have a good time around here. :)

Since I am a horrible blogger lately, I thought I'd add a few pics of the kids that were on my phone. Lucy & Ben are both growing and changing so much. Ben has learned quite a few sight words and is able to read simple books. I'm not pushing him too much with it because I don't want to stress him out. He always amazes me too with his number skills. He can count crazy far...it can go on and on and on. Lately he's started counting by 2's and 5's on his own. His brain always seems to be thinking and he constantly surprises me with things that he remembered or the questions he asks me. I'm sure he is more than ready for Kindergarten, but my heart still breaks thinking about it coming up so soon! Lucy has quite a personality. She is so silly and makes us laugh. She loves to dance (with just her arms) when any music is on. It makes me smile every time. She does a pretty good job of keeping up with her big brother. He likes to have her chase him around the kitchen/living room. She just had her 15 month check-up and was in the 10% for weight and 60% for height. She LOVES reading books lately. We have to sit down together and read books all day long. That gets a little tricky when I'm trying to make dinner!

Hopefully warmer weather is around the corner. I'm ready to get outside more with the kids...without winter coats.

Ben helped me out by reading to Lucy today. I love that he has his sunglasses on. It is pretty bright in our house. :) (Please excuse her crazy bedhead hair.)
Ben is wearing his favorite hat. He sometimes lets Lucy try it on, but just for a minute.
We stopped at the mall this week. I haven't really done this with both kids in a long time. We went through a couple stores, played in the play area, ate lunch at Chick-fil-a, and rode a couple rides. I did have to take a few deep breaths...it was a little stressful, esp the lunch part. But, they had fun and that's what it was all about. (I applaud moms who get out with more kids because I have a hard time with just two.)
Last week, Ben wanted to make a picnic for some stuffed animals. I was quite impressed with his spread!
Yesterday morning we went outside to get some fresh air and have Lucy try her new swing. She loved it and made funny excited noises the whole time. I should really get a video of it. We didn't last out there too long because it was only in the 30's, but we were able to get back out again later in the afternoon.
