Let's a go! Ben's Luigi Birthday Party!
On Saturday, October 26th, we had a "friend" birthday party for Ben. He has been wanting a party with friends the last couple years and we finally gave in. Now I'm sure he will want one every year...yikes! :) We thought about a few different options and decided to have one at our house and kept it really small. I knew we would have Lucy to watch too and I didn't want it to turn into madness! He invited 5 friends and they were all able to come, so we ended up with 6 boys at the party. I consulted Pinterest for a multitude of party ideas. I found lots of simple Super Mario games/decorations and got planning. :) The party was really fun and I think all of the boys had a good time!
I made a few decorations for over the fireplace. We bought a helium tank to use at home and that made filling the balloons really easy.
As the boys arrived and got settled, we had a few coloring pages and a star magnet craft for them to work on.
We added some streamers and balloons to make the entryway more festive.
I used the dining room as the party favor spot.
The boys got Luigi hats, mustaches, Luigi face bags, and a special character prize that they picked out after the games.
Ben let me use a few of his Super Mario characters to decorate...but not his favorite ones. :)
Lucy wore her Princess Peach crown for the party.
We took a family picture with our tripod to remember this fun day!
So excited for party time!
We ordered a cake for Ben and we were really happy with how it turned out. He loved Luigi jumping in the middle.
Let's get this party started!
The party boys
We played "Pin the Mustache on Luigi". Some of the boys got really far from Luigi's face. Ben's mustache was almost in the kitchen!
This picture is blurry, but it was the only one from the "Yoshi Egg Hunt." I used Easter eggs and turned them into Yoshi eggs with a white permanent marker. Then I hid different amounts of gold coins inside each egg. The boys searched the basement for the 60 hidden eggs and then counted their coins.
After this they played "King Boo Ball Toss" then went upstairs for "Super Mario Bingo."
For each of the games, the kids got gold coins. We kept a total for each boy and I told them it would mean something later. After we were finished with all of the games, I showed the boys the little Super Mario characters that I had in the dining room. I said they were all equal and cool characters, but I would let them choose by gold coin amounts. Then, they each took a turn picking out their characters. (I had a talk with Ben beforehand because sometimes he has a hard time not going first. He told me that all the characters were cool and he would be happy whatever order he got to pick. He did great, with no sad face in sight.)
I loved all of the little characters! They each had a little zipper pocket to hide treasures.
Cake time!
He was excited to open all of his presents. :)
Legos!
We had a little bit of extra time at the end for the boys to play in the basement. They had fun getting out lots of toys. Ben said it was the best party ever, so that sounds like a success to me! :)
