Father's Day
Our church encouraged dads to have a date night on the Friday before Father's Day with their daughter(s) and breakfast on Saturday morning with their son(s). Curt thought that sounded like a great idea, so we worked that into Father's Day weekend. The kids were both so excited to have a special plan with their daddy. Curt does a great job making Ben and Lucy feel loved and special.
Lucy had fun picking out something pretty to wear on her date with daddy. She had to wear her "silvers" which is what she calls her shiny silver shoes. :)
Curt took her to Culvers because she likes the frozen custard treat at the end...and it's right next to the car wash.
Curt took Lucy through the car wash in his car a few weeks ago and she talks about it all the time. She likes to hold daddy's hand during the car wash because they make her a little nervous. She was so excited when he surprised her with a drive through the car wash after their dinner date.
Curt and Ben went to breakfast at the Sunrise Café. We haven't been there in a while and Ben always talks about the huge chocolate chip pancakes. They enjoyed a nice big breakfast before Ben's baseball game that Saturday.
We went to church on Saturday night, so we had Father's Day morning free to try out a new splash park in Leo.
Lucy liked this little frog.
Ben got brave and ran through the water.
They had a little playground there and the kids both enjoyed trying out the slide.
Another part of the splash park is a river with rocks that you can walk through. It was really cool, but honestly it's a bit scary with little kids. I was happy to have Curt along, so that I could give Lucy my full attention. I held her hand the whole time.
She loved the river and we probably went through it at least ten times. She liked climbing on the lower rocks and jumping in the water (holding my hand, of course :) ).
These kiddos had a great morning playing at the park
Later in the day, the game Risk made an appearance. Ben saw it in the game closet and wanted to learn how to play. Curt spent much of the afternoon teaching & playing the game to Ben. They have played it several more times since then. Playing Risk is a family tradition with the men in Curt's family on Thanksgiving. I guess Ben will be ready for this year.:)
