Ben's Birthday Extravaganza!

 October always feels like "the month of Ben" around our house. We usually fit in a weekend trip to each side of the family to celebrate his birthday and then he has his actual birthday at home...so that's a lot of birthday cake! He wanted to stick with a Super Mario theme (again), so I just pulled out some old decorations I had from the last couple birthdays. Then I added some green, because Ben's love for Luigi and the color green runs deep.
 When we celebrated with my family, my mom made a chocolate peanut butter cake that we all love!
Ben got a new Super Mario blanket from my sister. He loves soft blankets and quickly added it to the 3 other ones that he already sleeps every night.
 Another weekend, we went to Cadillac and celebrated these 3 cousins that all have October birthdays.

On his birthday at home, we had some yummy chocolate cake after he got home from school.

 He loved the new hoop we surprised him with in the basement.
 He also had some other smaller presents. One was a little Bowser that he had been asking for...does any boy have as many Super Mario toys as Ben?

Enjoying December

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
