Christmas Cookies

Yesterday, I decided to make some Christmas cookies. Ben usually loves to help decorate things like that so I imagined the fun bonding time we would have together. Well...it didn't really turn out like the picture I had in my mind. After decorating two cookies he was over it. He only wanted to eat cookies, not decorate. So, I put him in his high chair and let him eat a cookie while I had to decorate the rest of the cookies. So much for our "mother-son" time. :)

Some of our finished cookies. Santa is coming to our house early (this weekend) since we will be out of town on Christmas, so I wanted to have some cookies ready for Ben to set out. What will probably happen is that I will have him help me set the cookies out for Santa and then Ben will cry that he needs to eat the them himself. :)

I can't believe it's Christmas time already!! We're doing our Nickel Christmas tomorrow and then our family Christmas on Thursday before we come up to Cadillac!! :))) Still all fun though.......

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
