Weekend Guests

Our friends (Derek, Rachel, Jackson, and Luke) were able to visit this weekend and we had such a great time! They almost weren't able to visit because the flu struck their house last week. They waited until Saturday morning to come, just to make sure that no one else was going to get sick. Ben just had the flu a few weeks ago and that was not a fun time. Hopefully we will all stay healthy now.

Saturday afternoon, Rachel and I went to see the movie Remember Me. It was really really really not good. We were at least able to laugh about how bad it was. The characters, plot, and pretty much everything just didn't make sense to us. I don't think I could ever sit through it again. It was fun though to get out of the house all by ourselves without the kids!

Ben and Luke had fun playing with some toys. I tried to get them both to smile at the same time, but that was pretty much impossible. :)

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself.
