Disney trip: Day 1 (Travel Day)

Image
On Sunday, June 5th, we left Fort Wayne for our Disney World vacation. This vacation has been in the works for a couple of years. We wanted to wait until Lucy was a little older, so that we didn't have to worry about diapers or early days of potty training. At 8 and 4, Ben and Lucy were both at great ages to go. Our kids have never been on an airplane, so that part of the trip was also an exciting adventure. I tend to get a bit motion sick on planes...so I wasn't sure this was going to go well. We had to take two flights to get there and that usually makes it worse for me. I was hoping for one flight, but the Fort Wayne airport is pretty small, so that was not an option.  Here we are at the airport ready to start the journey. The kids were super excited to ride a plane! After we left Fort Wayne, we headed to Detroit. Our flight couldn't land right away because of a storm over Detroit. By the time we got to the gate we had about 20 minutes to race across the...

Disney Day 2: Hollywood Studios

We took a bus from the Caribbean Beach Resort on Monday morning and got to Hollywood Studios right when it was opening. We wanted to get there early to see if Ben could get a spot for Jedi Training. When we found the spot for sign-ups, the line was already really long. They said the wait was 1.5 hours. Ben really wanted to wait, although we reminded him that bad weather was in the forecast and they cancel the training if a storm rolls in. He had his heart set on it, so Lucy and I left to find some other fun things to do by ourselves.  It was almost time for the Disney Junior show to start, so we got in line and hoped to get a spot inside. There was plenty of room for us and we got pretty good seats on the floor.  The show had little short segments from a few of the Disney Jr shows. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse was the first.  She really enjoyed the show and it was nice to be out of the heat. On our way to catch the Little Mermaid show, we saw some Storm T...

Disney Day 3: Animal Kingdom

We spent Tuesday of our trip at the Animal Kingdom. We were without a stroller because it still had not dried out from getting soaked the day before. It worked out well that we had this park planned next because it didn't require that much walking and Lucy did fine throughout the day. More rain was in the forecast, so I was a little bummed thinking we would spend another day drenched. But, besides a few sprinkles the day was dry.  A family selfie before heading into the park.   We saw a "memory maker" photographer by the Tree of Life, so we stopped for a few quick photos. It was really nice to use our magic bands and see all the pictures from the parks each day.   Tinkerbell flew into our photo!  Now this looks like a classic Ben & Lucy pose. :)  Our first fast pass was for Festival of the Lion King. We all really enjoyed the show!   Later, we had a fast pass for the Kilimanjaro Safari ride. Thank good...
