Up in the Air


I told Ben yesterday that we would be going to the Grabill Fair today and he got very excited. Then, after a few minutes he asked, "What's a fair?" :) I explained that there would be food and little rides for the kids and I reminded him of the airplane that he rode last year. All morning he looked forward to his airplane ride. He even brought along his Toy Story Buzz & Woody because he thought they'd love it!

We enjoyed some lunch (of hotdogs) with our friends Erin (Will) and Rebekah (Isaiah, Amarah). Then, we headed back home. I didn't want to stay too long because I wasn't sure that Ben would use a port-a-potty if he needed to go. It was fun to get out and see the fair during the day before the huge crowds roll in.

Looks like a good day at the fair. I can't believe Ben's big enough to do these rides by himself----he looks so grown up!

Enjoying December

I'm glad we had time to make sugar cookies together. Christmastime does not seem complete without them. I frosted the cookies while Ben and Curt decorated.  Lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips!  Ben loved getting slippers and a robe with his "Christmas Eve" jammies. He does love to be cozy. We decided to move up our present opening a day early because we thought I might end up in the hospital on Christmas. But, today is the 27th and still no baby. So we were a bit off on that one.  Santa brought the Lewis Hamilton car that Ben had asked him for. He was very excited!  The new pirate ship has been a favorite. He has played with it a TON a last few days.  Ben also got a few more pirate dress-up things. I've heard "Aarg!" a lot lately. :)  My parents came yesterday for a visit since my dad has this week off of work. The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I didn't think that it would make me feel old, but it kinda does. :) I had a wonderful birthday. Curt went out and got us donuts for breakfast. Then, I got to open my presents. He did a great job shopping and I love everything he picked out! For lunch we went out to Olive Garden and then stopped by the mall for a little while. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at home. I hope this getting older doesn't mean that gray hairs are going to start showing up! While I got ready this morning, Curt got out his old car track. He hasn't used it in many years, so he wasn't sure if it would work. Ben loved watching the cars race around the track. We enjoyed eating lunch at Olive Garden. Ben was too interested in coloring to look up at the camera. I love cheesecake for my birthday and Curt made this one for me all by himself. It is a chocolate chip recipe that is one of my favorites. He only added one candle per decade...we didn't ...
